Avatar: The Last Airbender is a popular anime cartoon series. You can learn how to draw 12-year-old Aang from Avatar: The Last Air Bender with the help of this easy cartoon drawing tutorial.
What is an Avatar? It "is the human embodiment of light and peace through the connection with the Avatar Spirit." The Avatar are reincarnated in a cycle as citizens of the four nations.
Avatar are able to bend all four elements - fire, air, water, and earth - and they have a duty to maintain a balance between the human and spirit worlds and between the four human nations.

Who is Aang? Born to the Air Nation, he was frozen in an iceberg for 100 years, before the beginning of the Hundred Year War. When revived, it was discovered that he was an Avatar with the great responsibility of learning all the bending techniques to end the war.
In addition to the cartoon series, Aang has starred in a live-action movie, comics, and graphic novels.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender
1. Begin by drawing Aang's anime eyes. Use thick curved lines to outline the top, bottom, and pointed corner of each eye. Then, enclose a partial circle inside the outline. Shade a small circle in the center of the larger one to indicate the pupil. Then, use curved lines to outline the eyebrows above the eyes.
2. Use curved lines to sketch the bridge and sides of the nose, the nostrils, and the gently smiling mouth.
3. Use a long curved line to outline Aang's head. Note the roundness of the scalp and the contours of the chin and cheeks. Do not fully connect the shape at the side.
4. Use a curved line to outline the ear, filling the gap at the side of the face. Contour and detail the inside of the ear with a long, irregular, spiral line.
5. Use a curved line to outline the remaining ear on the opposite side of the head. Use a series of short curved lines, some of them branching, to detail the contours inside the ear.
6. Draw the arrow on Aang's scalp and forehead. Use curved lines for the line of the arrow, and straight lines for the triangle. The arrow is a tattoo, a traditional marking of the Air Nomads.
7. Use curved lines to draw an incomplete, irregular circular shape around the bottom of the head. This marks the top of Aang's garment collar. Then, draw two short lines from the chin to the collar, forming the boy's neck.
8. Use overlapping, branching curved lines to draw the folds of material on each side of the garment. Note that some lines are long, others short.
9. Draw a curved, narrow "V" to complete the opening of the collar. Then, connect the bottom edges of the collar with a long curved line.
Color your cartoon of Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Typically, he wears the orange or brown garments of a monk. The arrow on his head is light purple or grey.
