Synopsis
Richelle is back and A-Troupe desperately hopes she will bring down Miss Angela.[1]
Plot
In Studio A, the A-Troupers are preparing to audition for the featured duet at Regionals. Kingston confesses that now Richelle is back, everyone hopes she will help them fight back against Miss Angela and Lily. Richelle says that everyone has filled her in on what is going on, and she wants to help put things right, as she feels it is her fault that Emily and Michelle got fired. Miss Angela comes out of her office and commences the duet auditions, and Noah and Jacquie go first. Jacquie confesses that everyone's duet partners were reassigned after Richelle came back, and although she is happy to be dancing with Noah, she is sure they will not win, as Miss Angela is bound to pick Lily for the duet. Lily and Ozzy are next; their choreography is clearly designed for Lily to upstage Ozzy, but she does compliment him by saying that their dance styles work well together. Richelle confesses that the others told her that Lily is "all flash", but she finds herself admiring her stage presence. Winnie and Kingston perform next, followed by Henry and Amy; Amy expresses her confidence that once Richelle sees how Miss Angela treats everyone, she will want to do something about it. Summer and Kenzie dance next, and Summer confesses that she hopes that the others are right about Richelle, as they seem to think she is the perfect person to get rid of Miss Angela. Finally, Richelle and Finn perform, and Richelle confesses that she doesn't see how Miss Angela can be that bad if she managed to bring in such great dancers. After the auditions have ended, Miss Angela announces that Lily will be performing in the duet, to no one's surprise - but then, to Richelle's delight, Miss Angela reveals that she will be Lily's partner, deeming her to be the only dancer who can keep up with her daughter. As Miss Angela leaves, Amy approaches Richelle and asks if she noticed her blatant favouritism towards Lily, but Richelle points out that Miss Angela is good at what she does, and says she is willing to give her a chance if it means they will win Regionals. Amy and Summer exchange a worried glance, and Summer confesses that if Richelle doesn't want to help them, they don't stand a chance against Miss Angela.
Summer enters the locker room to talk to Richelle, and tries to warn her to be careful around Lily; however, Richelle brushes her off, believing that Summer is just jealous of the attention given to Lily. Richelle tells Summer that she doesn't need to worry about her, as she can take care of herself; Summer is perturbed that Richelle doesn't seem to be concerned about Lily.
In Studio A, Richelle and Lily are practicing their duet with Miss Angela. Richelle is repeatedly criticized for "moving [her] body too much" and is constantly compared to Lily, but she decides not to question it, as she believes Miss Angela knows what she is doing. Miss Angela leaves the girls to rehearse, and Lily tells Richelle that while she is a good dancer, she could get to her level with practice, and confesses that she thinks Richelle should smile more like she does. Although she is frustrated at taking criticism from Lily, Richelle is determined to keep her mouth shut, as she wants to stay in the featured routine.
In Shakes & Ladders, Finn approaches Ozzy and asks if he can talk to him about Richelle. Ozzy is happy to oblige - until Finn asks if she has a boyfriend. Dismayed that someone else is interested in Richelle, Ozzy attempts to draw his attention to some of the other girls in A-Troupe; however, Finn is not swayed, and eventually Ozzy grudgingly reveals that Richelle is not dating anyone.
In the locker room, Summer tells Noah and Amy that after speaking to Richelle, she doesn't think she wants to help them get rid of Miss Angela. Noah suggests that they go directly to Miss Kate, but Amy is sure that this won't work, as Kate apparently loves Miss Angela. Eventually, the three come to the conclusion that if they want to go to Regionals, they may just have to put up with Miss Angela - though none of them are enthusiastic about the prospect.
Back in Studio A, Richelle is watching A-Troupe rehearse their group routine for Regionals so she can start to pick up the choreography. The dancers are in unison to the point of being robotic, and are all being forced to smile; Amy confesses that she hates the way they have to dance, but they don't have a choice. As Richelle watches the dance, she starts to realize that no one's talents are being utilised - they are all being brought down to Lily's level, and it is breaking their spirits. Finally understanding why Miss Angela is so universally disliked, Richelle decides that as she is the one who caused her to be hired in the first place, it is up to her to set things right.
Later, Richelle spots Lily in Shakes & Ladders, and decides that if she wants to get rid of Miss Angela, she should try and get through to her daughter. Richelle suggests to Lily that she could help her out with being dance captain, and offers to be her assistant; Lily likes the idea, and instantly accepts. Unaware that Richelle is using her, Lily confesses that no one has ever been this nice to her before, and she wonders if she might make a friend at the studio after all.
Meanwhile, Finn meets Ozzy in Studio 1, and Ozzy tells him he has brought him there because Kenzie wants Finn to help her with hip-hop. However, he confesses that this is a ruse, and that what he is really trying to do is to stop Finn from being interested in Richelle - so in addition to asking Finn to help Kenzie with hip-hop, Ozzy has told Kenzie that Finn needs help with contemporary, and has asked them not to tell each other that he set this up. Ozzy leaves just after Kenzie arrives, confessing that if everything goes to plan, Finn will fall in love with Kenzie and will no longer be interested in Richelle. Finn and Kenzie start trying to work together, but become confused when they both try to do different styles to the ones Ozzy said they needed help with. Eventually, Kenzie suggests that they choreograph a duet that fuses hip-hop and contemporary; Finn agrees, assuming that this is a way for Kenzie to feel more comfortable doing hip-hop.
In Studio A, Lily announces that Richelle is her new assistant, much to everyone's surprise. Lily also reveals that she will be picking the alternate for Regionals that day, and to Richelle's dismay, she suggests that she goes through all the present A-Troupers and tell her their weaknesses. Richelle approaches the dancers one by one and gives them extremely harsh criticism; everyone is appalled that she would do this, and Noah confesses that he can't believe Richelle has turned on them after they put her trust in her. Richelle confesses that she hopes her plan works, because she doesn't think anyone will want to talk to her again after this.
Back in Studio 1, Finn and Kenzie perform their contemporary and hip hop mashup, and they both reveal that they think the dance has turned out great. Finn confesses that he isn't sure why Ozzy thought Kenzie needed help with her hip-hop, and similarly, Kenzie says that Finn is actually pretty good at contemporary. As the dance ends, they voice their opinions to one another, and are perplexed when they learn that neither of them actually asked for help - until they remember that Ozzy was the one who told them to help each other, and instantly realize he set them up.
Noah confronts Richelle in the locker room, and condemns her for how she acted in Studio A earlier; Richelle attempts to explain herself, but Noah cuts her off. He furiously reveals how excited everyone was for her to come back before she did this, and tells her that she has a weakness too - she is a traitor. As Noah storms out, Richelle sadly confesses that she has just lost all her friends - and as she hasn't got anywhere with Lily, it may have been for nothing. Lily herself then enters the locker room, and invites Richelle to get a milkshake with her; Richelle accepts the invitation, realizing this might be her last chance to get through to her.
In Shakes & Ladders, Richelle remarks to Lily that it must be hard being the daughter of a studio head; Lily confirms this, and claims that it has been particularly tough lately. Richelle asks why, and Lily suddenly reveals that Miss Angela has been working at the studio via a thirty-day probation period, which will expire the next day - and as long as Kate is still willing, she will then become a full-fledged co-owner of the studio. Richelle's shock only heightens when Lily starts showing her photographs of how her mother is planning to redecorate the studio once she is a co-owner; she struggles to contain her distaste for the decor shown in them, which she describes as being reminiscent of Las Vegas. Richelle asks if the photos can be accessed by anyone, and Lily reveals that it is all on her mother's PhotoShare - so you just have to know where to look. Richelle confesses that she finally has everything she needs to get rid of Miss Angela.
In the locker Room, Finn approaches Ozzy and sarcastically thanks him for getting Kenzie to help him with contemporary. Realizing that Finn knows he was messing with them, Ozzy immediately owns up; upon Finn's inquiry, he reveals that he has feelings for Richelle, and he didn't think he would have any chance of winning her affections if he was competing against him. Finn instantly understands, and says that he will back away from Richelle, much to Ozzy's relief; he confesses that he should have just told Finn the truth from the beginning. Just before Finn leaves, Ozzy asks if he thinks Richelle would ever be interested in him - and without hesitating, Finn says he doesn't stand a chance.
In Studio A, the A-Troupers are discussing how hurt they are that Richelle turned on them so easily. As they try to think of a new plan, Richelle comes in; she is coldly received by the others, and Amy asks where her new "bestie" is. However, to everyone's surprise, Richelle reveals that her "new bestie" has just given her the information they need to get the studio back - and asks them if they want to join her.
